    Hi there,

I’m signed up to project manage https://www.hullfclive.co.uk/ for rugby Super League’s Hull FC this year.

All the live-to-web R&D is done and ready to rock; where we’ve hit a snag is finding software on the Windows platform which has [format] – MP4 encoding with the ease of use, flexibility and quality of Compressor. We want the pre-recorded material to be made viewable on Mac platforms from the off (as opposed to FLV now and Apple later) and… we’ve got there — with AVS, Handbrake and Adobe — but it’s not the ideal situation, fussing about with 2/3 different, differing encoders.

Note: We’re occasionally receiving anamorphic 16:9 footage pre-wrapped in .M4V which a few of our progs don’t like handling much.

Look forward to thoughts and suggestions.

    Darren.

H.264 .mp4 encoding was only just implemented in Compressor 4.

If you just need H.264 .mp4 you could get the paid version of Microsoft Expression Encoder. It’s very powerful at that target.

    Telestream Episode is cross platform

.m4v is the same internally as .mp4. In this case you really can just change the extension.

    Cheers, Craig

Freebie ol’ Handbreak got us there in the end, after a couple of long nights staring at the ‘encoding’ bar. However by the end of this season we’re expecting subscription revenue to allow to us upgrade to something more pro that’ll handle HD, multicams etc. Appreciate the tips.
