I recently acquired a set of Avid Targa 3000/3100 video capture boards.
Checking if anyone on the COW forums has access to Windows (NT/2000/XP) drivers for these cards?

    Hi Jason,

Being on a similar quest to yours, i’ve located drivers for the 3200 board, which I think is sufficiently similar to the 3100 to work.

They are version 2.4 for Win2K.

Please note: these drivers are not specifically intended for AVID. I think they’re generic?

Drop me a line, if you’re interested.

    Kind Regards
    Jakob

    Hi Jason,

I just picked up one of these boards from EBay and managed to track down the drivers for the Targa 3000. I tried to email you but the address from your above post bounced back at me.

For many of the drivers try the links at the following website.

    https://www.pinnacle.fr/PublicSite/as/Products/Broadcast+Products/Other+Broadcast+Products/Other/TARGA+3000+Support/Updates+_+Patches+_+Utilities/Software+Updates/TARGA3000v1_5Full_zip.htm?mode=view

    I know long url.

Some links are broken. You can try the following for the Targa 3000 1.51 driver

    https://cdn.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFiles/T3k_1_5_1.zip

Please let me know if these drivers work for you and what hardware you are using with the 3100 board.

If you have any troubles let me know and I can upload the drivers somewhere.

    cheers,
    gerry

    Hi Jason,

Funny you should mention… my car could use digging out 😉

I live near Fraser and King Edward in East Van.

Let me know how the drivers work out – I should be getting my card around New Years.

Thanks a lot for archiving these drivers. I got two Targa 3000 with Digital Tether port, but I have real issues about the computer system where they can be fitted. I’m trying on a old HP XW8000 dual Xeon workstation who has 64 bit PCI slots. Can you tell me the computer specifications where you using the Targa 3000?

We are in 2024 but I’m still trying to get my Targa 3100 working. I have no luck. As I launch Discreet Edit 6.5 , it does not find the hardware and crashes. Same for Premiere 6.5, it crashes after some loading. I have Targa drivers 1.5.1 , the workstation is an HP XW8000 Intel E7505 chipset, dual Xeon 3.2 “Gallatin” CPU , 4 GB of Ram, ATI X1950 Pro VGA AGP and T3K is inserted into one of the 64bit 100MHz PCI-X slots. The driver installation process itself is fine but as I launch any application supporting Targa hardware, it crashes! The Targa Board Monitor and system test running just fine without issues…Maybe I do need an older computer with different chipset/processor? Maybe I have a memory conflict? How to fix? In the system BIOS there is not so many parameters. Thanks for who will read and spend a word.

    Hey Mark,

I loved the old *edit system, but AtoDesk/Discreet killed it – never forgiven them for putting 2 of my editing suites on the scrap-pile, without offering an alternative.

    Anyway, water under the bridge.

    Are you on Windows NT?

Sounds a bit crazy, but have you thought of getting a “spare” on eBay?
There is a link on this posting to a 3100 card:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/234518565978?itmmeta=01JCC2ZWEEDTW9DEGCRTXX64D4&hash=item369a65545a:g:QzYAAOSwtWpglD6s&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwMxmj%2BiGvOveHXEBClPb29j7AKvZqrc%2FzFCLDWZ3KRs%2BohQRjf6dMzPWhkJtu6WlsGk8ztsvdTvSZpiFHzLDMbV25vMaFH%2BJXA5BEbtWzkTGpEOLw121FcG%2F5qU06oyAYILVTYVd30GB9LECuu2Kv5SfRPV0Ef8ftfRS6GzAKRYV9W4UM2iPPGfciStWmlq6KanPHlETtes6pgsW0o1iWPXZh5s54Seb5NB0BZpw3SWkUKeTBzNrjxHUKcFkue2zmw%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR6bH_4LjZA

Maybe do a call-out, I don’t know where, but there is still some of the people lurking around who used to work for companies that did the integration and technical support of *edit systems.

Avid has recently got new owners, and a lot of people left the organisation, maly for retirement. But maybe Avid has the drivers and documentation on a shelve, or would know a specialist internally (employed or retired) that might be kind enough to help you.

The obvious question is how much money you want to spend v Return on that Investment?

I’ll keep a look out as I may still have some of the old CD-Roms lying around, byt my systems was Targa-2000, so can’t promise. Adding, that these days I am in the habit of throwing out drivers that I no longer need.

    Hope this helps?

    Atb
    Mads
