windows 7 pro quicktime issue
Hey y’all,
I know parts of this has been discussed in other threads but nothing worked in my case.
I’m a long time linux user for work and I want to set up a system for resolve at home.
After reading the windows config manual from blackmagic I got this computer:
-supermicro 2xXeon 4 cores, 8 cores in total
-32Gb ECC ram
-evga gtx 580 3Gb classified,
-ocz SSD for os and WD green 2TB for dataAfter I installed win 7 pro and copied some movies I made with a nikon d7000 I had the unpleasant surprise that I don’t even have 24 fps playback in quicktime, it tops around 16fps.
Resolve Lite does the same, it tops at 16fps, which makes sense since qt can’t play faster.
Same movie in VLC plays just fine.
This is very puzzling because my dell laptop running windows 7 home and the same version of qt plays those movies without any issue.
I’ll appreciate if anyone please shed some light on my issue.cheers

yes, sorry I forgot to mentioned it. I use the gtx580 for both GUI and GPU.

Using the BMD speed disk test app.. whats your disk read and write speeds?

I have not done that yet. I’ll do it as soon as I get home today. Does Resolve Lite include the disk utils?

No, you need to download that separately. It’s on the Apple App Store.

Oops.. I just realised again you are on Windows so App Store won’t help.
Can you call your local BMD support line and seek their assistance.

Does Resolve Lite come with support?
I run the command line utils and I get 28fps overall, the lowest number, on 1 thread. If I push threads to 16 I get 32 fps.
I’ll try to bake dpxs and see what’s the performance that way.cheers
