  • Win 7 does not recognize JVC camera with firewire cable.

Posted by Robert Billings on September 26, 2019 at 7:22 pm

I’m trying to import footage from a JVC GY-110 camera, but my Windows 7 computer does not recognize that the camera is plugged into the computer via firewire.
My computer does recognize a Focus FS-4HD recorder when I plug it in.
My computer: Core i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40 GHz, 24 GB RAM
My video card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX560
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Robert. Nothing to do with your nVidia Card. You need to install the Legacy Driver for your 1394 FW Card. By default Windows 7 wont. I’ve done it for Windows7 and it worked.

Try these easy instructions on the MAGIX VegasPro site:https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/cannot-connect-camera-or-canopus–95016/#ca571035

    Hi Robert

Just to add to Graham‘s comment, if the legacy driver is missing from the list, you can download it from this site (they also have detailed instructions to boot)

    Many thanks for the suggestions.

Unfortunately after updating with the legacy driver I still cannot see my JVC device in the list of “devices with removable storage”. I can hear the audio “handshake” when I turn on my JVC BR-HD50 deck, but that is all.

Vegas 16 Capture says “device not available”
