I am afraid that FCPX and Adobe will kill of Vegas because I am good with VMS and want to ugrade to Pro soon but don’t want to waste my money.

Well the good news is that Premiere CS5.5 is about as bad as Vegas 11 (Maybe 10). I don’t expect Vegas to disappear anytime soon, however if the trend continues of each version of Vegas being worse than the previous, I fully expect the Pro 15 will burn your house down, and Pro 20 will start Global Thermal Nuclear War that will most certainly kill us all!

Wow, it almost took you 40 whole minutes to jump onto a thread to defend Vegas Steve…You gotta be quicker than that or Sony won’t send you your check this week! LOL

    [Steve Rhoden] i believe
will soon become rock solid again.”

How many years have you been saying that??? At least 5 now???

How many hundreds of times have you responded to a post saying that all of these glitches are user error, or a system error, or that things aren’t that bad and they will soon get better Steve?

Bottom-line is that Sony needs to get it together NOW, and you aren’t helping the cause by vigorously defending them every day!

So if Vegas isn’t looking great by (say) Christmas 2012, should I consider Final Cut Pro X? I know it isn’t great now but here is what it has going for it:
    1. It runs on a computer that people want to use
    2. It is half the price of Vegas Pro
    3. It is gaining plugin support
    4. The overall product is gaining momentum much faster than Vegas

I think you need to take/aim your multi-frustrations to
Sony Creative Software Chuck, not to me. Im not obligated to the
Sony Vegas product its Associates or even to Creative Cow.

I too have my share of issues with it, but i dont rant & rave and throw
in the towel. I fine tune my workflow to deal with its shortcomings.

If Vegas is causing you so much grief, you have around 8
Professional NLE options out there, Choose one that works for you.

Are you talking to me or the other guy? If you are talking to me, then yes, I intent to present my concerns for the products future to Sony. I just want to know what con/prosumers/professionals think on the subject and what some good alternatives are.

He’s talking to me Matt…See Stever and I, well we have been having this exact same discussion since, oh I don’t know what, version 8?(maybe 7?) and every time he has said that it works fine for him, and that they’ll get it right next time, just “be patient”

I’m sorry if my previous comments came off as a personal attack Steve, I apologize. I want you to do me a big favor please. I am assuming your are going to NAB? If you are, and you get the chance to talk to the Vegas people, go ahead and tell them how great you think Pro 11 is…But…

Please tell them about me, tell them about this guy “Chuck in Chicago.” He has been using your product for ten years now, and he feels that each new release has had more issues than the last. Please tell them that I have submitted LITERALLY THOUSANDS of crash reports over the years. How I have contacted support dozens of times, and each time, they tell me to clean my registry or some other trivial solution!

Tell them how I have invested thousands of dollars in their products, and I have always had hope that in each new release they would correct the major issues plaguing the previous.

If you don’t have serious issues with Vegas Steve that’s fine…But I do, for years now, every time I mention an issue, a dozen people comment that they feel my pain and are experiencing the exact same issue…

So please Steve, tell them about us…We are the 99%! LOL

Ok I see. So anyway, do you think that Sony can get Vegas on track and competing with stuff like FCPX and Premiere? Also, do you think that Vegas is declining or getting better? A bunch say a bunch of different things regarding this subject.

Sony Vegas 11 is pretty bad it locks up and they didn’t get the GPU done to where it works all the time. I have had a problem rendering a .m2ts file to where the video and sound go out of sync. The free Tech support is an exercise in how fast they can close the incident and unfortunately they don’t care if it gets solved. If they don’t care I will not spend the $129 tech support for a year. They really need to do it right or go out of business. I don’t want to go to apple too confined!
