  • Will someone please tell me how to make Encore stop letterboxing my 16×9 footage?

This is absolutly driving me nuts! I shot in 16;9, edited it and (after a couple nights of futzing) rendered an anamorphic 16×9 and a letterbox 4;3.

I’ve burned the 4;3 versions and at first assumed all I had to do was replace the asset with the letterbox footage, but Encore rendered it letterboxed.

I started a new project, brought in all anamorphic footage, verified that it was 16;9, went into preferences and changed display to 16;9 and when I transcode it, it magically is letterboxed.

When I preview, it’s 16;9 without the letterbox.

In the Project Transcode Presets, I see the 16;9 Source and the Output is letterboxed.

How do I change the output to 16;9 without it being letterboxed?

    Thanks for helping!!!

I’ll assume you are viewing on a 16×9 monitor.

Make sure your DVD player settings are correct. Often they can be switched to a 4×3 output, and will automatically letterbox everything.
