  • Will Premiere Pro CS4 work with a Intel GMA 950 graphics card?

Posted by Jesse Koepke on December 16, 2010 at 5:10 am

I have been given a 13″ Macbook. The specs are 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, and the graphics card is an Intel GMA 950.

Will Premiere Pro CS4 work on this machine? Footage will most likely be from a Canon 7D or T2i.

I know these aren’t ideal specs (I’m a working video editor), but I’m going on a trip to Africa and just need to be able to edit simple video updates. I know this computer won’t be terribly fast, but will it work for basic editing?

    Thanks for your time!

    I see two problems.

    1. DSLR and CS4
    2. 1 Gig RAM

For DSLR you will need CS5 no matter what your specs.

For decent editing with CS4 of anything, even DV, you will want 4Gig RAM.

You can convert the DSLR tonsokething else but that’s not going to be a quick process. Perhaps P2.

Again you will want want 4gig RAM.

Thanks for the reply, Jon. Though not about the graphics card, those are two other issues I was wondering about, specifically CS4 being able to edit the H.264 codec.

So even if the graphics card could handle it, I’d be stumped on the other two issues. Drat.

    Thanks for the info!
