  • Will Premiere Pro 2.0 import an AVI with MPEG-3 Audio?

Posted by 409industries on August 16, 2006 at 2:10 am

I have an avi file that i wish to re-export so i can play it on my Tivo DVR. In the past i have done this by importing the avi file into the the timeline and then exported it.

However this clip (it plays fine in windows media player with sound and everything) shows up as video, but has no audio when imported.

Is there a way around this?

EDIT: it was encoded with Divx

Have you tried to import it into Audition? Workaround might be to play the file in Media Player and record the audio using Audition or another audio app. Then take that wave file into Premiere.

PP 2.0 does NOT like esoteric codecs like XVid or DivX. Also these files are heavily compressed and therefore not suitable for editing.
