  • Will more RAM really speed things up?

I’m wondering how much additional RAM really helps with After Effects. I’m working on some animation templates that are really quite slow on my machine during previews, and I’d like to speed it up.

Here is my current system and settings:

Do you think I will see a significant improvement in the speed of previews if I was to increase to 40 GBs of RAM (my board holds up to 64), or is this an issue of diminishing returns once you hit a certain level?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts,

    John

Try turning off multiprocessing. Depending on the project that may help.
    More RAM always helps.
Rendering and cache on SSD also helps.
