Activity Forums DaVinci Resolve Will more RAM fix the “Power house” error message?

In the meantime, is there any way to quickly find out which frame(s) were dropped? That’s my least favorite part about the error – not being able to find where it messed up.

One can always check the timecode. 🙂

No the powerhouse message is not coming from the amount of RAM you have. I have 24 Gb of RAM and I still get it to. Not only that, but I get it at startup without even a project running. I am on an new 8 core 2.4GHz Westmere. It arrives in both Lion and Snow Leopard. So to be honest it seems more like a software issue than a hardware one.

It seems that Vladimir (on another post here at the cow) found a solution for rendering:

“The only thing that helps me is throttling render to 2 FPS (maximum for me goes at about 4-5), so that it never bottlenecks.”

Strangely, sometimes the error comes up with a timecode of where it went wrong, and other times, it does not. I honestly haven’t looked carefully enough to when’s what, but I think it depends on source/target render modes. So unfortunately, sometimes I’m left hunting it down manually.

Let’s keep this thread dead until we know more about 8.1 and if that update will fix the issue.

8.1 fixes it, you should be fine.
