  • Will Media Composer v12 run on newer OS Xes?

I can’t seem to find any compatibility info for running MC v12 (12.0.5 to be exact) on newer versions of OS X, though that doesn’t surprise me, since it’s getting on in years.

We’re still happily editing on it until we move to high def., but I was hoping we could upgrade our old OS X install (version 10.2.6) to clear out some various system problems, so…

Has anyone here either successfully run or failed to run MC v12 on newer versions of OS X?

I’m running a Meridian ver 12.0.5 on OS10.2.6. It’s not the greatest (I’m having some pretty severe stability issues). Bottom line is I’m staying with ‘whut brung me to the dance’ until I get my new system.

That’s the same setup we’re on, and the same issue we’re having. The Avid actually runs pretty smoothly (as smoothly as any system from that era), but pretty much anything else we try to do in the operating system gives us grief.

I’d love to swap it out for a newer Mac version between projects if it’s possible. If I do get a chance to test it out, I’ll post my results.

I’m buying a new MC / SDI Mojo system. It’s been a great system. Its had a TON of footage pushed through it, and has worked pretty much flawlessly for 7 years. Unfortunately, it does not fit well in our new work flow. It has problems exporting anything over 10 minutes (I haven’t put anything on tape in a while). It’s more of a PITA than anything else. I’ll crack a cold one when I send it out the door…

We did try upgrading to an Adrenaline system a few years ago, but at that time, the Mac version was a huge ball of problems. Nothing like the Windows-based Adrenaline I had tested. We switched back to the Meridian system to get back all our project compatibility and tools.

The Avid software itself is actually working just fine still. It’s the OS itself giving me problems mounting and managing drives and even running other applications. Maybe I shouldn’t risk upsetting the Avid and just live with it until we convert to a whole new HD system.
