  • Will Decklink ever support 720 25p?

Posted by Adam Claude jones on June 15, 2006 at 10:41 pm

I want to capture 4:2:2 25p footage for green screen work from a JVC HD100 (component out) and would love to use the New Decklink card, but I see it supports no 720 25p. Will it support 25p any soon? The project is beng shot in 720 25p, so I need the green screen stuff captured at the same frame rate. Any ideas or solutions? I wonder why PAL/50hz always gets left out.

I don’t know about this card but BMD multibridge extreme works with latest drivers and BMD deck controll
There just is no support in FCP for 50p timeline and there is no 25p 720 standard on SDI
So when captured just convert the quictime file to half lenght and you end up with 720 25p -> that you can upconvert to 1080 for easyer forkflow!

I am sorry for wrong information

The first test’s I did with 720 50p was on JVC mpeg2 stream and used mpegsteramclip – and I could chance frame rates in there.
So what you can do is capture 50p bring that clip into FCP, retime it to 200% and uncheck the frame blending option.
Otherwise FCP brings in the 50p as 25p and you get slow mo effect
