  • Will Automatic Duck allow me to embed MXF in my AAF

I’m trying to create mxf files from both Premiere and Fcp using Automatic Duck. I’m wondering if it is possible to embed this media in the AAF rather than create them in an external folder. I know AD gives one the option to embed audio but is there an option to embed video as well?

    Thank you in advance!

To what end? Avid can’t import embedded…it needs the video/audio MXF files to be in the specific Avid File structure.

I believe embedded has a 2GB file size limit, so it would be useless for most video projects anyway.

[John Pale] “I believe embedded has a 2GB file size limit,”

    That’s the OMF size limit.

Actually there is an issue exporting an embedded AAF greater than 2GB . Avid created a work around for their products. I don’t know if one is required for Automatic Duck.

    Thank you Shane.

I was hoping that once I import the AAF from auto duck into Avid, the mxf files would be placed in the appropriate Avid MediaFiles folder structure and the sequence would automatically link. Looks like I’ll have to stick with placing mxfs manually and relinking.

    Thank you in advance!

    Thanks John,

Is this size limit placed by Avid or Automatic Duck?

    Thank you in advance!
