  • Will AE7 for Mac export MPEG2? M2V?

Posted by Kingbee on January 27, 2006 at 8:58 pm

Can someone check to see if Adobe included the MPEG-2 export capabilities that (I believe) exist in the Windows professional version? If so, can chapter markers be included which show up in DVDSP projects? Any info would be helpful.

    Thanks,
    KingBee

Maybe some misunderstanding here. I think the M2V extension is used by some encoders for the video-only element of the output of an mpeg 2 encoding, if the encoding is output as separate video /audio streams.

Nothing to do with Windows Media sfaik …

I’ve been trying to find out if AE renders in MPEG2 also. No one seems to know. I guess I have to spend the money to upgrade to find out. If you spend the money before I do, then tell me.

Though, it would be great if someone who had AE7 could just try it…

It would be very much appreciated!

No, it doesn’t. AE7 on Windows comes with the Adobe MPEG exporter, but Adobe never wrote it for the Mac so it’s not there. You can buy the MPEG-2 pack from Apple (as well as QT Pro) and get MPEG-2 export added, or I’m sure there’s some other Mac codecs you could get (sorry, I spend 90% of my time on Windows so I’m not up to speed on all the latest Mac widgets).
