November 2, 2012 at 3:15 pmI have a 5770 in one of my mac pros and I added it to the Premiere Pro Text thing. It helps a little bit. Premiere seems to be a little bit more responsive. The GTX570 seems like it’s 10 times faster in Premiere, Though. The GTX570 is a NVIDIA card so it uses CUDA. The card is about the same price or a little bit more expensive than the 5770 and a lot better. The only downside is that you have to hack your computer to take advantage of it.

November 2, 2012 at 3:19 pmGreg: Good advice. Thanks. I heard that if you do the hack for Cuda you loose your audio. Could this be true… and is it worth doing the hack in terms of reliability> This is my fear… gettin gin too deep and ending up with an unreliable system.

November 2, 2012 at 3:23 pmI have not lost my audio. I had some audio issues, that were unrelated, but they were fixed with the latest Adobe Premiere Pro update.

November 2, 2012 at 3:30 pmThat’s good news! At the risk driving you nuts… what is involved in doing the hack for 64 bit? I have looked around but still have not been able to figure this out. Can anyone direct me to a video of a link with the best instructions for this? Also; if I get the GTX card will this still be a good card to use in a brand new Mac if I decide to take the plunge in the near future… so that I won’t have to buy yet another video card? That might make all of this more palatable.

November 2, 2012 at 4:50 pmI would love to be able to boot into 64bit, but this is way over my head. Is there a good step by step video out there?

November 2, 2012 at 6:22 pmRuss: I’m with you. After reading that article about how to do this 64 bit update it still left to much to my imagination. If you come across something that seems a little more user friendly for guys like us please let me know. Thanks again for your help earlier.
