  • Will Adjusting Max Bitrate (VBR) make a difference?

Okay, I’ll admit I’m new to this whole compression stuff but was just curious,

In compressor, if I’m making a file for DVD using apples basic settings and then adjust the max bit rate (say all the way up) and then adjust the min bit rate so that I have the right length of the movie (im burning these files to DVD without a menu or anything, just the film) will it make a huge difference? Or should I just leave it the way apple sets it? Im just curious, since ideally I would like the best quality possible.

Im sure this isn’t a simple Yes or No question but was just wondering how much of a difference these adjustments would make.

    Cheers

Setting higher bit rates can cause problems with some DVD players. I’d have to know a little more about your project to give you detailed recommendations for what your intended output will be so I’ll just direct you to one of my video heroes: Larry Jordan.

Larry has a good article about this here: https://www.larryjordan.biz/articles/lj_bit_rate.html
