Wiggly DVD pic from Photo compilation
Hi again,
I’m up against a new experience, & need some help, please.
Vegas 7. A series of still .jpg photos, 6 seconds each with 1 second overlap. Simple blend. Music background. No titles except an initial one. Total length about 25 minutes. The .jpgs are 2592×1944 pixels each. Rendered into MPG2 – DVD-PAL. Then DVD Architect 3. Burned into DVD-RW.
Result, DVD played by Windows Media Player and Nero Show Time: Wiggly picture, including the Vegas-created initial title, as though they are underwater. Tried re-rendering at “good” quality. Tried a different DVD-RW brand. No difference.
I’ve done such photo compilations before, it’s pretty straightforward, but never encountered this. Suggestions would be appreciated. -

What bitrate did you use for your render?
Are you doing extensive zooming or panning on your images?
If not, shrink them by 1/2.
Try applying “Reduce Interlace Flicker” to all your images.
Since your project is all stills, use “Best” mode for rendering.
This maximizes the image quality for DVD. -
Hi,
I reduced the size of the .jpg images to 50%. The Rendering was done at a fixed 6,000,000. There is no zooming, panning or any other effect – just straight shots with one second overlap. The quality was BEST. Unfortunately it has not solved the problem effect. The only thing left to do is to “reduce interlace flicker” and that is my next attempt.John23GR

Bump your bitrate up to 8,000,000.
It’s only 25 min. long so you don’t need to worry about anything. -
I did a series of tests with only 3-4 .jpg photos, full size and reduced by 50% with the “default” variable bitrate. The wiggles were still there, including the Vegas-generated title (not overlaid, simply ahead of the photos.)
These were rendered as MPEG2: DVD-PAL.
Then I rendered the same as MPEG2: DVD-NTSC. The Wiggles were gone and the resulting DVD looked normal as it should.
The problem seems to be in rendering to the PAL format.John23GR

If you go to File – Properties, how is the timeline set up? If it’s set to NTSC and you’re rendering to PAL, that could possibly cause some issues as well.

Thank you all for your help. I did everything suggested. But unfortunately the wiggly results remain unchanged, unimproved. I guess Vegas (7) is not able to handle DVD-PAL well.

nope, I guess you set up Vegas 7 incorrectly and the results speak for themeselves – seeing as thousands of us in the UK/EUROPE/OZ/RSA have done it without problem.

I agree there must be a solution, but it seems to escape me.
All I can do is start from scratch, and follow through. Can the problem be in a wrong setup of DVD Architect, instead of Vegas?John23GR

Found the problem. It was “hidden” in DVD Architect 3. I looked at File/Properties/Disk Properties/Video Format. It was set for NTSC. I changed it to PAL and it worked fine. Thank you all for your tolerant support.
