Hi all…this has me stumped..PC, AE 6.5. I’ve got some DV footage that I’ve keyed using keylight…the footage has not been scaled but I have moved it down in the comp a dozen or so pixels to improve it’s positioning over the bg…I’ve also added a drop shadow to add to the realism…when I do a full res. ram preview I get occasional frames the would suggest that I have a mask cutting off half the talent’s body it just happens now and then and not on consistent frames….it’s really not predictable and a re-boot normally sorts it out but I have known it happen during a render when there’s not enough time to do a re-render after I’ve found the problem.. I’m rendering over a network but this doesn’t normally cause any grief…any thoughts would be welcome…many thanks…Roger

Heres’s a thought: because the footage is DV and is being keyed via keylight, I would “transcode” the footage.
you might try to output the footage as an uncompressed or animation codec quicktime. At least this would eliminate the DV format as the problem.
Also, check frame rates and size in comp vs source footage. for instance 720×480 source in a 486 comp can lead to strange banding in the fields
as the field frequency get screwed up.

    Roger,
I’ve run into this also. The bottom half of the keyed frame would just disappear occasionally. I contacted the makers of Keylight (the Foundry)tech support and they e-mailed me a bug fix. Haven’t had any problems since.

Well, at least not with Keylight. 🙂

This “weird masking” is due to Keylight taking advantage of Dual processor systems.
The top half of the image being processed by one and the bottom half being processed by the other.
When the ram usage is max’d out it drops a process, if you cut the length of the clip and purge caches before the job this usually free’s up some space.

This does not happen in AE 6.0.

If you still have problems contact the Foundry support.
