Are these basically apps whose windows float over other open apps? Not sure i get what’s special about them. I guess they are antibloat, instant info. But at some point you go oh I want to save that info or edit that info or whatever. Then you need a more fully developed app? Or can you still copy and paste info from the widget to another app?
On a related note, I am very used to closing and opening apps on an as needed basis. With enough ram, is there any advantage to this practice. Or should i just leave the apps open unless I’m short of ram (ie photoshop or FCP rendering)?

I only have 1 Gb in my Powerbook, still I don’ think I’ve ever closed photoshop, if not for a quick restart. If you look at the activity monitor, open applications do not consume significant resources, unless, of course, you keep a number of documents open within that application.
