I have placed a gradient at the bottom of my video (in its own layer) but the problem is it will not span the width of the video! it is just stopping about 5% from both the left and right sides of the screen.

I’ve set the media generator to 1440 x 1080 but still it won’t expand the to the full screen

    Tony,
Maybe you can try expanding the gradient using the “track motion”
to fill that extra 5% gap.

Generated Media is always created at the project resolution so there should be no issues with size. Something else must be causing this.

The project started out as 720p but I changed the properties, and then changed the generated media’s properties to be 1080p. Would that cause it? how do I recover from it without rebuilding the entire project?

OK that explains it. The Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR) of 720p is 1.0000. The PAR of a 1080 is 1.3333. You changed the dimension of the Generated Media but you didn’t change the PAR. Open the media’s properties and change the PAR to 1.3333 (HDV 1080) and the media will fill the screen.
