widescreen format.
Posted by Tom Delacarey on September 25, 2008 at 9:18 pmReally quick question: when i render my vids, on vegas, i choose the widescreen option (ntsc dv widescreen) and this format is like really thin/ wide. How do i get it to be like the normal view i get when i watch a movie i buy?

September 25, 2008 at 9:26 pmThis is the normal widescreen. Is your project set up as widescreen? Is your media widescreen? Something is not set up correctly if rendering to DV Widescreen isn’t filling up a widescreen TV completely. Give us more info about exactly what you are doing and we’ll see if we can figure out where it is going wrong.

September 25, 2008 at 9:44 pmactually, i guess my tv isnt widescreen, but i tried the rendering mode thats full screen, but when i play it on windows media player, theres a black border around the entire image. Im fine with this, i jst want to make sure that its all “normal.”

September 25, 2008 at 9:53 pmIf your source isn’t widescreen and you render widescreen you will get black bars on the left and right sides. If you then view this widescreen footage on a TV that isn’t widescreen you will get black bars on the top and bottom. The result of doing both of these is black bars on the top, bottom, left, and right, which is probably the black border that you are experiencing. This is normal when you render to widescreen and don’t have a widescreen source or output device.
I’m not sure what you were expecting but it sounds like you got exactly what you asked it to do.
