im having a problem with exporting my videofile from adobe premiere pro cs3. when ive finished editing my movies i go file – export – movie and/or file – export – adobe media encoder and press OK. when its rendered and ready to watch it always ends up being a 4:3 pixel ratio on my films instead of 16:9.

All my clips are filmed in 16:9 on a pal sony vx2100. my project settings are always 16:9 pixel ratio. I dont understand why my movies end up in a 4:3 pixel ratio?

ive been struggling with this problem for atleast one year and i would appreciate if anyone could help me out on this one?

    thanks

Open the file with GSpot (pc). It will tell you what the Aspect Ratio is.
It’s possible that the playback application/unit isn’t uitilizing the Aspect Ratio flag.
It’s possible that the video codec you are using isn’t utilizing the Aspect Ratio flag.

You said 16:9 for Source and Project. It should be…
16:9 for Source, Project, and Encoding.

If you are exporting for delivery, try using a preset in Adobe Media Encoder, instead of exporting as movie. Of course, make sure 16:9 is selected.

Generally, I only export as Movie when I intend to do further editing and need an uncompressed file.

Always do export testing with small (maybe 5 seconds) clips. It greatly reduces the frustration of a bad test.

i saw your post. I am struggling with the same problem, no matter what settings I chose i still get a 4×3 video export from Premeier CS3.
I have to bring it into Sorenson Squeze an compress and it come out right. But uploading final to vimeo it gets squshed to 4×3.

    thanks,
