    I am working with a 1920×1080 29.97fps master m2t format source video.

I wish to create a series of small 160×90 clips to embed on a html5 webpage.

I attempt to render the video in Vegas 12.0 to mp4 with a resolution of 160×90 but the settings keeps changing the height back to 144. I am using the Mainconcept AVC/AAC codec.

What I get is a 4:3 resolution video that shows my clip with the 160 width resolution but with black bars on top and bottom. This happens whether I check or not. In the drop down menu I select CUSTOM FRAME SIZE.

To play my video on all platforms I ultimately want to create ogg and webm versions all with the same resolution of 160×90

Apparently 144 is a minimum height setup in Mainconcept AVC. I tried Sony AVC and it goes lower but not to 90. 114 was its lower limit.

Have you tried using QuickTime, Custom frame size 160 x 90, then rename the resulting .mov to .mp4?
MediaInfo reads the file and VLC can play it. Don’t know if it’ll work on your web page tho’.
