Anyone out their in DVE land using one of the new wide screen WIDE ASPECT monitors? Ive had my eye on the new Dell 24″ wide screen monitor:

    https://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/ProductDetail.aspx?TabPage=techspecs&sku=320-4221&c=us&l=en&cs=19

I was just wondering how these monitors go in relation to pixel aspect ratio. For instance in After effects, working on a normal monitor you can select pixel aspect ratio correction, which gives you a correctly stretched wide comp when working on a wide screen project. However as most normal monitors native pixel aspect is 1:1, the trade of is that you get jaggy edges.

The specs for the dell say its image aspect is 16:1, is this the same as pixel aspect? In any case how would this relate to working in AE on a wide screen project? would you no longer need to use the pixel aspect view correction?

The pixel layout is 16:10 not 16:1, 1920/16=120×10=1200(1920X1200), the pixels are square, same as a regular monitor

If doing DV the resolution is 720×480, pixel aspect .89 x 1, if doing a DV wide screen project the DV resolution is still 720×480, but the pixel aspect is changed to 1.2 x 1(stretched), viewing a video project on a computer monitor is good for composition but a widescreen project should be viewed on a wide screen analog video monitor for final check, also then you might not see any jaggies.
