Why the Biz & Mkt forum?
This forum actually started on the COW’s predecessor (the one which was essentially stolen from Ron and Kathlyn Lindeboom by one of the industry magazines). The Lindebooms we’re insightful enough to create this space based on the simple idea that whatever software, hardware, platform, camera or area of specialization, the majority of us had a large range of common issues. These included getting work, getting paid, getting legal and, in general, being in the business of production.
For a year before the COW and here since the COW’s launch in 2001 we’ve had discussions on everything from liability to responsibilities to contracts to insurance to licensing to… well you get the idea. The Biz COW has helped guide some folks just starting out and given several oldsters (like me) a virtual ‘office water cooler’ where we can interact with our peers and share our experiences.
New postings on the Biz COW can go up and can go down, but this forum remains a highly valuable resource that’s the product of everyone’s input. That’s why it’s here and what it’s for. I, for one, am extremely thankful that it and the entire COW exists.
