Vegas is taking forever to open, sometimes several minutes.
Have reistalled Vegas, refreshed windows diabled media manager scanned for viruses, cut back virtual memory—-done everything I know possible. All hard drives included the system drive have ample space.
    Still takes forever to open.
    What do you suspect.
Open to any thoughts or suggestions.

My first suspicion would be that it’s looking for some device that isn’t there and it finally times out when the device is not found. Maybe something like a scanner?

A long shot here but do you have Canopus Procoder on your machine? If you have check that under ‘Queue Manager’, Tools that ‘Start Kernel with Windows’ is turned ‘off’. There were a few reports around that this was dramatically slowing down some PC’s on start up. I can confirm this as I suffered the same problem. Back to normal since turning it off. It’s also a memory hog and doesn’t need to be started with the Windows bootup. It will start when required if you use the Queue Manager.

    I don’t think it’s those.

I experience the same thing…and it’s not a slow system bootup, it’s a slow start of the Vegas program itself. 6.0 does seem to take a long time to get going, compared to previous versions.

If you don’t use the media manager Un-install it, and it will open much faster. If you use media manager deal with it for now??

You don’t have to actually uninstall it. You can simply turn it off in the preferences. Once turned off, Vegas 6 will load at roughly the same speed that Vegas 5 loaded.
