Why so complicated to do green screen keying in Resolve?
I can’t understand why such an advanced piece of software like Resolve can’t come up with an easier way to green screen. I love the program, have switched from Premiere Pro, but in that program I merely place a keying plugin on the clip, choose the green, and it’s gone, with some minor tweaking. All this inverting and highlighting and creating an alpha node. And still I’m not impressed with the results. It’s kind of ridiculous for what this software can do.

Take your shot into Fusion using Fusion Connect and use either Primatte, Ultra Keyer or the new Delta Keyer (or a combination of all three) – you will get better results that way than with any other method.
It’s what Fusion is made for.

Thanks. I’ve actually found that in 14 it’s a LOT easier. Create my serial node, create alpha channel on output, select my green area with qualifier (3D), then invert. Despill if necessary and I’m getting a much better key than I ever got in Premiere Pro without much tweaking of the edges.

I’m trying to use Boris’ Chroma Key Studio in Resolve but something is not right. I can pull a clean key, but my background is black rather than showing the layer below it. I’m trying to do it just by dropping the filter on the clip itself in the timeline. Adding a serial node alpha channel didn’t seem to work either.
Any other Boris users out there with suggestions?Not my monkeys. Not my circus.

On the node with the OFX plugin, you also have to right click and select ‘use OFX alpha’
