Why Render Imported…?
Posted by David Michael black on August 3, 2006 at 6:58 pmWhy do I have to render QT.mov files that I’ve imported into a project that have the exact same codec/size/frame rate/etc settings as the sequence? [FCP5-G5Quad]

August 3, 2006 at 7:13 pmSome setting might not be right…one small thing. And it can get to be annoying to figure out what that is.
BUT…I have a handy tip here to make a sequence match your clip settings exactly:

August 3, 2006 at 7:51 pmDo me a favor and open the movie in quicktime and then get info on it. Tell me the specs (codec, frame rate, size etc.)

August 3, 2006 at 9:14 pmThis is why several versions ago Apple should have added the option to FCP which would automatically change the sequence to what every format file you are cutting or dragging to the timeline.
This would be done by showing an option box when you started to cut in footage which asks if you want to set the sequence to the file format of the clip being used. If you added a non similar file to a sequence that already has files your in render land, just like now.
I guess a new update will allow us to have any number of different formats on the same timeline with no rendering, here

August 3, 2006 at 9:21 pmJust go to:
http://www.proapptips.com/shane
Then click on the NON STANDARD CODECS tutorial. You weren’t meant to copy the WHOLE thing. My fault for having it on the same line.

August 7, 2006 at 9:18 pmTo all who tried to offer help, I’m sure it was just one little setting in QTPro that I didn’t notice when I created the file to import. In the future I’ll be more careful. Thanks
