  • Why No Output via AJA IO?

Posted by Brad Froman on October 16, 2008 at 7:55 pm

A few months back, I had to re-install FCP 5.0.
After the FCP install, I had to download the AJA IO v2.1 packages of preset settings (ie. Analog NTSC_US.pkg).

I have no output via AJA Io.

Now, when I start a session by going to “Easy Setup” and choose “AJA Io – NTSC US Betacam 10bit 23.98 Uncompressed”, I am able to digitize the material into FCP through AJA Io, but, there isn’t any output. I see/hear playback within FCP on the desktop.

The audio/video settings show “Pro AJA Io” in the audio and video output settings.

Does anyone have any ideas where I’m going wrong?

    Thanks.

Change your video output to 29.97

Sorry…I meant to say I chose Easy Setup for “AJA Io – NTSC US Betacam 10 Bit Uncompressed. The timeline setting is 29.97. So, again, after creating a new Project, I digitize a sample clip (which looks and sounds fine importing through AJA), when I try to play the clip back, the AJA does not allow me to see/hear the clip.

    Audio/Video settings are as follows:

Sequence Preset: Uncompressed 10-bit NTSC 48 kHz
Capture Preset: AJA Io: YPbPr Betacam 10-bit NTSC US 48 kHz
Device Control: AJA Io RS-422 NTSC
    Video Playback: ProIo – NTSC US – Component YPbPr Betacam 525 – 10-bit (720×486)
    Audio Playback: ProIo Out

Go to your View > External Video menu and make sure it’s set to All frames and that audio follows video in the audio playback menu.

External Video was “Off”, but I switched to “All Frames”…and still nothing. Audio is following video.

I stand corrected…you were right. Someone had switched the monitor input without my knowledge…so I wasn’t seeing the change you suggested.

Thank you so much! I’m back in business!

Gotta love the Cow and nice folks like you.
