  • Why no alpha on mov when it does have alpha?

    Hi

Doing an SD timeline…seq is Uncompressed 720×480, got a couple of motion text files I want to overlay on my video. So made a QT mov of the motion files, Pro Res 4444 ,alpha, SD. Brought them into timeline, but they won’t key, as if there’s no alpha channel. But on export I make sure there is. However, in FCP browser when I right click on the mov file for item properties, format and alpha it shows as “none/ignore.” Is this why it won’t key, What to do?

    Thanks

Was told correctly by Tom W to turn on the Alpha in FCP by right clicking in the item properties tab and changing from none to straight or black or white, whichever I need and it works now…

    Thanks

Click on that and choose straight or premultiply. Whichever you used.

In motion do you have a background that you are exporting with the text? Make sure you have checkerboard under your text when exporting.
