  • Why is there an animal on my FCP Timeline???

Posted by Ted Griffis on May 22, 2007 at 7:40 pm

Okay this is not a joke, though I’m sure it is for someone.

Upon returning to my desk after the weekend I saw an animal with ballon text on my FCP timeline.
You must see to really understand because yes this is strange, it looks like a cow, or an 8 bit Longhorn.

    https://www.griffisart.com/fcp_animal/fcp_animal.html

Here are some of the things it says:
“Why does feature creep have to sound so ominous”
“You know they were peeing in the pond and now no one wants to drink.”
    “Drop ribs, not frames.”

The last one leaves me to believe that maybe there is a FCP plug in that has an easter egg that pops up after FCP is idle for a while? Not sure exactly, but its making jokes about dropping frames. Has anyone seen this before? Do you know where it comes from?
I saw a flash of this about a month ago on an identical machine of ours but I wasn’t quick enough at the time to get the screen grabs. It runs away as soon as you bring FCP to the front.

Any info is appreciated, I really dont like having things like this pop up on my computer without permission.

    Thanks, Ted

It’s embedded in the Final Cut code…no getting rid of him.

    Matt! I can’t believe you’ve just done that…!

The secret location of Bruce has traditionally been handed word of mouth from editor to editor… as far back as FCP2 (though I don’t think I ever saw him in FCP1.2.5)….

Now don’t do it again! We all need the fun of searching for him in Final Cut Studio 2. 🙂

    Ted

Just out of interest, hwo the hell did you manage to get a screen grab of Bruce?

Normally as soon as you even move the mouse he’s out of there so quick you don’t see him for dust….
