  • Why is the HyperDeck footage 29.97 (and not 23.98)?

Hi, I’m using FCP7 to edit footage from my Canon camera (HF G10).
    I’m shooting true 24p (23.98).
Some footage is from the green screen, some not.
The green screen (chroma key) footage is being ported via HDMI into a HyperDeck 2 at ProRes 422 HQ.
The non-green screen footage is being recorded to SD card (AVCHD)

QUESTION: Why is the HyperDeck footage 29.97 (and not 23.98)?

I’d like all my footage to be consistent (match) when I bring it in to Final Cut. Is there something I’m missing?

Add’l info: I use Log and Transfer to capture the AVCHD footage from the SD card.
FCP does not import/capture HyperDeck footage through Log and Transfer. So I just drag it directly from the SSD hard drive into the FCP Browser.

    Thanks,
    Craig

I think ProRes is a strange bird.
    I was shooting 1080P at 30fps and getting 60fps.
    So, I tried 720P at 30fps and got 1248×702 and 59.940fps

That is when I downloaded the DNxHD codecs from AVID and switched to DNxHD 220 and I now get what I shoot.
