  • Why is my composition background a frame from a previous project?

    Hello!

I’m relatively new to after effects, and I have a question about my composition background. For some reason, whenever I make a new composition, it says my background is black, but when I make it, the background is a frame from one of my previous projects.

This has happened to me twice now. To fix the problem before, I switched my renderer from Cinema 4D to Classic 3D. Now that the problem has happened before, both renderers have a random frame stuck there. I don’t know how to fix it!

I am running After Effects CC 2019.
I’m so sorry if this was confusing!

It sounds like you need to toggle transparency grid. In your composition window, just to the left of your camera view dropdown is a rectangular icon. Click on that and it should fix the problem.

After Effects saves rendered frames to memory and to disk, to make subsequent previews and renders faster. If you ever see an incorrect stuck frame, try purging that cache:

Edit > Purge > All memory and dish cache…
