  • Why is Adobe Media Encoder adding a single frame to the beginning of my DNxHD dailies?

I’m ingesting footage for a documentary shot on the Sony A7S in XAVCS (23.976fps – 1080p) through Adobe Media Encoder. I’m applying a LUT and transcoding to DNxHD LB (36) for offline. For some strange reason, there is a single added frame to the beginning of every transcoded clip. How can the transcode possibly have one extra frame than the XAVCS file doesn’t have? When I open both clips in Davinci and do a side by side comparison on the timeline and in the viewing window, the DNxHD clip has an extra frame at the beginning of the clip every time.

Does anyone have any experience with this paradox?

    Peace,

    Z
