  • Why dose Final cut 7.0.1 crash all the time??? I need help

Posted by Mick Uzendoski on October 29, 2009 at 11:38 pm

I’m just wondering if anyone knows why final cut 7.0.1 crashes all the time??
I’m running Snow Leopard 10.6.1 I have 8GB of memory processor 2×2.66 GHz Quad-Core, Also I have the AJA card.
It crashes when using a Filter, it crashes when selected clips in another timeline to copy and paste, Also it crashes when I import a clip or audio file.
One more thing auto save only saves half the time. I have auto save set for every 8min and then it never saved in an hour.
    Could someone help me.

    Thanks
    mick

[Mick Uzendoski] “I’m running Snow Leopard “

That is your most likely answer. 7.0.1 works quite well here in OS 10.5.8.

Have you used the AJA Ininstaller and uninstalled your drivers?

Then have you downloaded the very latest AJA Kona Drivers for your model of Kona from aja.com?

Then have you tried to update the firmware in your card by using the Kona Firmware updater in the AJA Utilities folder that was installed when you installed the drivers?

Please give us more info on exactly what software is installed and how you installed it. Thanks.

I am not having any of those issues with the same software. I have a the 2.9 Nehalem octo and 16 gigs RAM and a Kona 3.

Did you do a clean install of the OS and FCS3? Problems have been reported with updates over old installs and this forum has been warning people against that for years.

    Hi Mick,

I am running 7.0.1 on Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and I am not having problems with crashes. Did you update to 10.6.1? I would follow Jeremy’s advice and update all of your drivers. Some manufacturers have just recently updated their drivers for Snow Leopard. I was having trouble with my Sonnett Express 34 card until I updated the new drivers. Also, did you do all that Mac crap, i.e., Reset Permissions, zap PRAM? That is needed a great deal when installing new software and updates and such.

Let us know how you are doing with this. Good Luck.

NOT TechTools. That software ruined one of my RAIDs recently and I would not recommend that software to anyone.

    DiscWarrior, absolutely, great software.

Everytime I have run it (which is exactly three times in my career), something weird happens. It is only only only a last ditch effort for me.

Not knocking the software, I think it does what it’s supposed to, but it’s not an end all be all. At least for me.

Agreed, it is a last ditch software when all else fails. And you have to make absolutely certain you are running the correct version of the software for your version of Mac OS.
