  • Why does tone created at -20db come out at -17db?

Posted by Milton Hockman on November 1, 2006 at 2:05 am

I created tone media via the PH feature on the audio tool. I create it at -20db, yet when i cut it into the timeline and play it, it registers louder than -20db, like at -17db and i have to adjust with with the audio tool to read correctly.

why is this? doesn’t make sense to me why this is erroring.

check your audio project setting in the settings palette. maybe your audio output is not set to zero.

    ALL TRACKS CENTERED.

Anytime you mix two identical audio tracks together, the level output will be 3Db higher than the source tracks. Don’t pan the source tracks to center on the test signals.
