P.S.: Try once the AE way – in a similar problem HD to SD DVD I had – this was the solution.

[Joe Martino] “lol why are people on this forum so angry all the time? I always am seeing fights and arguing etc. Nobody has patience for the people who don’t do this every day of their life.”

    Joe,
    Why do you think?
I can’t speak for everybody, but I can speak for myself.
I do this for a living, and time is money. I’m not a mind-reader, and I’m not sitting in front of your machine. So the only way I have to know what is going on, is for you to tell me. And you are wasting my time by making me waterboard you in order to get accurate info.
Considering you’re asking for free help, do you think it is too much to ask that you:
    1. Give us accurate, pertinent info.
    2. Try searching the forum for similar issues, and answers.
    3. Read the manual.
    4. Tell us what you did to troubleshoot your problem, and what result you got.
    5. Stop complaining about the mood of those you expect help from, and the nature of that help. It really won’t prove to be effective in getting an answer.

I think you will find plenty of posts where people did numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4, and never got to number 5.

And Adam is not only correct, but has every right to point out typo’s.
First off, how are we supposed to know this is a rough cut? And if you don’t care enough about your project to get the fonts spelled correct, why should I care enough to help you?

I’m sorry if you and Sascha think that cutting to the chase is the equivalent of “reading someone his rights”. I never went in for that PC ‘everyone in the class gets a gold star for trying’ crap. This is a tough biz, full of opinion and ego.
If you guys think this is mean, dissing, judgmental or whatever, perhaps your not cut out for it?

I have a system, it has stuff in it, and stuff hooked to it. I have a camera, it can record stuff. I read the manuals, and know how to use this stuff and lots of other stuff too.
    You should be suitably impressed…

Ok so you spent your valuable time continuing to point out things that don’t matter.. if this is what makes you angry and upset I have no control over that.
Do you have any solutions to my issue? or will some one else come in?

Well, I think honestly that aim cut out for this business, working now in it for 10 years, coming actually from theatre, I am an autodidact who learned the hard way by trial and error. And yes, it is a tough business. But, as we say in Germany: the tone makes the music. It’s just the way you replied I find rather rude and i don’t get rid of the impression, it’s a valve for certain people. If you are so short on your time, why even bother to explain him the right way to it? And if you have that time, it’s just nicer and also will find more open ears, if you say, what you have to say in a modest way. Where I live and work, we feel we are in this together- and that is how I understand the COW. I am not attacking you, just sharing my opinion, that’s all.

1080p in what codec? i get those kind of text artifacts in hdv timeline. i now use prores 422.

another possibility is there are lots of possible conversions in compressor. Did you check all of them to make sure it wasn’t changing some or all of your settings? Like to interlaced? TRy previewing in compressor? Does it have these problems? Did you monitor in FC on a broadcast monitor? Same question. All that said I really hate going to a SD DVD after my whole workflow was in HD. This too shall pass.

[Craig Alan] “1080p in what codec?”

I don’t think the OP knows. He keeps saying its 1080p, and then when I press him for accurate info he says:
    1. Most of the footage is in Apple Prores 422. I use Log and Transfer and that codec is the setting I use when transfering.

    2. 1920 x 1080 HDTV1080i 16:9
    Pixel Aspect is Square
    Field is Upper
    compressor is 422 HQ

Well, according to that it, it’s interlaced, not progressive.
He also keeps saying its ProRes, but there’s a difference between that and ProRes HQ. Maybe I missed it, but he didn’t say what camera this footage came from. I guessing a 5D since he mentioned shooting the screen caps with a DSLR.
I feel like I need to hold a seance to find out what the actual workflow this guy is using, which would probably be quicker.

    Where were you on 6/21?

The footage comes from a Canon 60D shot in 1080.

When you ask for codec.. is it not accurate to say its Prores 422? If that isnt correct, maybe you can direct me instead of being arrogant.

As for my sequence, i set it to match the clip settings as prompted. all the info in my preview post is correct. Should my sequence settings not be like that given my footage? Should my aspect ratio not be 1080i? This is what Final Cut sets it to automatically when i input the footage.

From the best of my knowledge I felt like I gave you my workflow based on your questions. If it isn’t the proper description, why not help me out and guide me to the proper information instead of ripping at me post after post.. i just don’t see what that accomplishes other than make you look like an arrogant professional and me an amateur. Which I will gladly admit I am.

[Joe Martino] “Widescreen bars have a second faint line just below the bottom of the bar FOR TOP and just above the top of the bottom bar for bottom.”
    Widescreen Bars?
You are not making Anamorphic movies from your 1920×1080 stuff?

Your movie has some field-order problem, but with your “all at once” workflow is difficult to try to figure out where is the mistake.
    Codecs change nothing here.

I never full understood the Anamorphic stuff because I had never had any experience with it and I only use the default settings final cut presents to me once I import my footage.

What possible steps can be taken to figure out the field problem? If you need specific info please ask and I will answer to the best of my ability.
