Why does Resolve locks DeckLink? Why can’t it share like FCP or After Effects
Posted by Bernardo Brik on July 13, 2012 at 7:52 pmI can use Decklink with FCP and After Effects with no problem, but when using Resolve, it does not let other software take control of it.

July 13, 2012 at 8:15 pmI’d imagine because it creates stability issues.
If Resolve can’t control what other programs do with the hardware (output modes, etc), then it’s hard to rule out problems when Resolve needs to use it.
Just like when my buddy borrows my motorcycle tools, something always comes back out of place 🙂

July 13, 2012 at 8:41 pmEven Apple COLOR shared poorly with FCP – yes, it would switch back and forth, but you better believe there was a fight going on in the bg. Sometimes, you’d only get an “in use” warning, but other times there would be a sullen silence, followed by beach balls and eventually either a lockup or crash to the desktop.
