Why does aiff 48kHz need render?
Hello, I have the following issue: I put a 48kHz aiff file onto my project (ProRes 422 1920×180 24p with 48 kHz Audio) and I get a red bar. If I put it onto the same project but based on 23.98 frames per second instead of 24p I don’t get a red bar. Why is that? And what is wrong? Thanks for help and advise, Pascal

Pascal- You have a mismatch between your capture settings and your sequence settings. The red bar is in your sequence not your project. Go to your sequence settings and make the sequence settings match your clip settings.

It shouldn’t be like that. I heard the same issue in another thread few days ago. No solution re-exporting as .aiff.
Try open the .aiff in QT> Comm-J> SoundTrack> Extract>
Save with other name and import to FC. May works.Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1

Thank you very much, that did the trick! But why I do have to go back and extract the sound is really strange to me. I also checked capture settings and they were off too, I corrected them, but aiff still needed rendering, it is only the extraction that makes it work. What would be interesting is to know where the .aiffs come from. It seems that they have some wrong metadata or so. Just for curiosity, because I don’t know much of those matters.Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1

The standard .aiffs from CDs are 44.1Khz and 16b. This may be the reason you needed to render the .aiffs.Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1

Hi Rafael, yes, they were 44.1 but I had converted them to 48 kHz prior to importing them. Best, Pascal

How did you convert them? We do this everyday with compressor via a droplet and never have a problem.
