Whenver i use the capture tool on Avid Xpress Pro, and rewind the tape or fast forward, i get a horrible feedback sound and the tv montior shows a white blob. Anyone know why i am getting this? Whever i play a tape it is fine. just happens when i ff or rewind.

digital cut tool if fine, nothing happens with that.

oh yeah, when i say fast forward and rewind, i mean by hitting the button to do it, not by shuttling.

You didn’t say what sort of deck you are using, but I would guess you are feeding the output of the Avid to the deck. Unplug it during capture.
If you are using a Beta deck, the PB/EE switch may be set to PB/EE. Switch it to PB. I think there are also some menu options for this, but I can’t recall.

If you have an audio mixer, make sure you don’t have the faders up for the Avid output when you go into capture. This is where you create feedback loops. You can also really damage any equipment that the feedback goes to, i.e. tape decks and speakers.
