Activity Forums Avid Media Composer Why did Avid sold its video line products?

All those same Avid products will remain in major broadcasting studios. The flagship lines, Media Composer and Symphony along with the DX Hardware and Pro Tool and it’s appropriate hardware are still Avid products.

The M-Audio lines were their more affordable lines (granted, call M-Audio consumer or prosumer if you wish, they were fantastic products). Granted, their marketing would imply they want to focus on the pro market, which I believe is true, but layoffs obviously are indicative of hard times. Granted, Final Cut is less of competition these days but the new Smoke will offer significant competition to Avid.

Avid sold off the consumer video and audio product lines, not the professional line. Media Composer, Symphony, DS, and Pro Tools are still part of Avid.
