I have always converted my raw .cr2 stills from the 5Dmii to .dng before bringing into RAW / PHOTOSHOP. Just the way I was taught but I don’t think I learned (or retained) why.

It seems as though RAW and PHOTOSHOP will indeed work with .CR2, though.

But I know there is probably a reason why its best to work in .DNG, but I can’t find it….

So does anyone know why it’s almost always done this way?

    Thanks!
