Why cant i export to compressor?
Posted by James Mc on May 12, 2006 at 3:58 amIm using FCP 5.1 and Compressor 2.0, editing DVCPROHD 1080 30p footage. When i select my sequence and click file> export the compressor option is the only option grayed out, and i cant select it. Am i doing something wrong?

May 12, 2006 at 4:34 pmWith FCP open i select my sequence in the browser window. Then i click file> export> and “using compressor” is the only setting that isnt available.
I am running this on a new 2 ghz dual core intel iMac with 2gb RAM and 500 GB hard drive (of which i have about 400 gigs of space left). Could this be a glitch?

May 12, 2006 at 5:39 pmCan you export a ref file and use Compressor separately? If Compressor runs separately but not inside FCP trash FCP prefs and retry. If it still doesn’t run then I would be suspicious of the Compressor install.
Also try to run permissions from Disk Utility.
Hope this helps-

I can use compressor seperately and it works, although it seems very slow, but im not sure if this is abnormal. Can u explain in more detail how to trash FCP prefs and how to run permissions from disk utility?

May 12, 2006 at 8:27 pmTo trash prefs use this little gem.
https://pistolerapost2.com/fcprescue/
As for Disk Utility go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility
Select your drive and click on the button that says “Repair Permissions”Hope this helps-
