  • Why burn with Nero?

Posted by Terry Esslinger on July 6, 2006 at 3:52 pm

I have been watching this list for a long time. It seems that one of the most common answers to a problem with burning a DVD with DVDA is to “burn with Nero”. Is Nero that much better a program than DVDA? If so, why? If not, why is it one of the first suggestions so many people make?

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Nero (and others like Record Now) were originally made for the express purpose of burning discs (first CDs and now DVDs). Because of this, they are compatible with more burners than programs that were designed to author DVDs and just happen to also allow burning. Therefore, Nero can frequently successfully burn to a particular burner even though DVD A may have problems doing so.

I have to agree with Edward. I have had much better success using DVDA to “prepare” a project, then use Record Now to burn the DVD. I don’t think I’ve ever ended up with a “coaster” using this method – or if I ever did, it’s been a long time. Jim
