  • Why are my edges jagged?

I have 1 hour of footage that was shot and captured in 480i, the raw file is around 25 GB. Every time I render my file for MPEG 2-DVD (around 4 GB)I get these slightly noticable jagged edges around certain objects which should be a straight crisp line. I have tried every possible combination of settings and nothing seems to be working.

What would be the best way to achieve the maximum quality in my render without going over 4 GB?

    Thanks

Interlaced frames look jagged as stills on a progressive monitor – especially where there is motion.
But during playback on an interlaced TV they can look fine.

It’s also [possible you have the wrong field dominance interpretation for the raw source file. Upper Field rather than Lower filed first – or vice versa, depending on what the footage was captured on. (DV footage is lower filed first, HDV footage is upper filed first – I think.)

    Just some thoughts.
