  • Whose filters/generators are whose?

Posted by Neil Ryan on August 16, 2007 at 2:42 am

Running FCP 5.1.4 with Decklink card.

    In the Effects tab, under ‘Matte’ I have 2 generators;
one called ‘Color’ with no other info in any columns
and one called ‘Color Solid’ listed as FxPlug in the Effect Class column and an appropriate Description.

I know one is loaded with FCP but I don’t know about the other.

How do I tell where each of these came from?
(One seems to have a bug …)

Or more generally, how do I tell which filters are installed by FCP and which by BlackMagic?

    Thanks,
    Neil.

The FxPlug filters are new in v6 and have come from Motion. You can select the recommended filters or you can switch off the filter and generator items you don’t want.

    All the best,

I’ve got an article of the Kenstone web-site: “What’s new in FC 5.1.2” by Andrew Balis. I’t says that those FXPlug shoud appear in v5.1.2. However is the one I’ve got installed and they do not show-up. Is it wrong the information and only work in FC 6?
    Cheeers,

    Raphael,
they were definitely in 5.1.4 and I expect that means they were in 5.1.2 also.

    Neil.

Of course they did appear before v6. If you don’t see them I’d trash the preferences to start. Make sure you’ve run software update. There’s a Pro Apps update it needs. If it’s still not there, you should reinstall Motion.

    All the best,

Thanks Tom. I will try that way.
