  • Whose down-convert is better: Sony deck or Kona?

I want to capture HDCam rushes (108025P) from a Sony JH3 as ProRes SD (PAL) to edit with.
Are there any pros and cons that anyone can come up with to using the Downconverted SDI out of the deck as an SD in to my Kona LHe compared with going HDSDI in and letting the Kona downconvert.
Whose downconvert is better if any? Or are there any other issues I have not thought of?
    Thanks in advance

I haven’t used the deck you refer to but HDCAMSR decks have superior downconversion capabilities than the Kona does. “Mode 3” in the HDCAMSR seems to be equivalent to the Anti-Alias + Enhancer of 1 that I like to use in the Snell & Willcox UKON. The Kona seems to have a softer downconversion that does not have any options that you can change.
