    I’m guessing that this was shot with auto-sharpen/auto-contrast features turned on in the camera. These features must be left off in the camera, or else you’ll get terrible ringing around objects and will have a devil of a time compositing with the footage.

    Key the shadows separately. If the issue persists, look into using blending modes or Fill and adjust opacity etc to taste.
