    Hi,

I’m doing rolling credits for a video on Adobe After Effects 6.5 PC with Boris Title Crawl. Now, whenever I do white text, when I play it on the computer it looks fine, but when I play it on TV (after encoding the avi to mpg-2 for dvd on mainconcept encoder, and then putting it to dvd using DVD Architect 3) it gives a sort of “rainbow” look. Now, I already reduced the color value to more of a grey with 230 values for R,G,and B, and tried changing the text to different fonts, and i still have this issue no matter what. Is there something I could be doing to make sure I have a crisp, relatively white credits all the time?

    Thanks,
    Steven

What video signal are you using to get to your monitor? If it’s composite (regular ‘video’ rca jack) than anything with contrast will have rainbow effects because the side effect of combining the color channels. If you are watching it through component or SDI and it’s still doing it, try different font and/or do a small vertical blur on it so that it smoothly crosses over the scan lines.

I’m watching the exported DVD on a standalone DVD player connected to a TV using RCA video cables.

    2 tests to do:

    1. Put in a movie and watch the ending credits and see if it suffers from the same thing which it should.

    2. Hook up the DVD player using s-video (which it should be anyways) and see if that solves it.

Or if it’s a component DVD player that instead.
