White Screen!?!?
I have recently updated my studio to FCP 7. I am currently logging and capturing a new project.
The ‘Viewer’ and ‘Canvas’ windows are both white. When I drop video in to the timeline, they remain white, although i can hear the audio. The video source files are ok; video looks good.
If anyone can help, please! (The director to the project is sitting behind me, lol.)

This should fix it.
Click on the View pop-up menu. See attached image.
Then in the pop-up menu choose black instead of white. Hope this helps and best of luck.Check out my Motion Training DVD

Hi Alex,
Seems that you have no the the codec necessary to read the picture.
Probably in QT is all white too, isn’t it?

Can you expand on the codec problem and maybe possible solution. By QT, you mean quicktime I presume. If so, the video looks fine. I go to the capture scratch and pull it up; looks good.

That is very strange.
When the codec is not installed QT shows as well the white screen.
I thought it could be you had the View Alpha in the Canvas, that make it white, but shouldn’t affect the Viewer.

First port of call is to trash your prefs

Trying to edit anything over a 2K file size in FCP causes a white screen.
Are your video files by any chance 4K images someone has given you from a Red camera?

Right where Steven told you go , turn the drop down from ‘Alpha’ to ‘RGB’.
